Shear 'n' Shed: a QR plaque that belongs on the counter

Northern Ireland. A black acrylic booking plaque with a QR code, made to sit in a salon like a piece of signage rather than a printout.

A salon that takes bookings online still needs something on the counter that looks like the rest of the room. A paper QR code in a clip frame does the opposite of what the brand is trying to do.

The brief

Shear ‘n’ Shed needed a “Book now online” piece that would sit with existing interiors: dark, considered, and durable enough for a working counter. The QR had to scan first time, not after three attempts under salon lighting.

How we approached it

We specified black acrylic with contrasting lettering so the mark and the code both read. The QR was tested at the size it would actually be printed, not as a screen graphic. Edges and stand-offs were finished like a small reception sign, because that is what it is.

Print and cut stayed in Augher. You get a plaque that can be wiped down, not a sticker that lifts at the corners after a month of product spray.

On the counter

The plaque now does two jobs: it looks like the salon, and it sends people to the right booking page. If that URL ever changes, the code needs updating. That is a small revisit, and it stops a beautiful plaque pointing at a dead page.

The same approach works for menus, price lists without figures on the website, and window vinyl. One workshop, so the counter and the fascia can agree.

If you need a QR piece, send the destination URL and a photo of where it will sit. We will spec a size that scans in that light.
